Ok - remember how we mentioned that Michelle was "nesting" and doing our first load of laundry? Well, here's how that turned out:
Who knew that the sewage drain hose had to be open because the washer is plumbed directly to it, and not the grey water tank? Jay called the previous owner to confirm the logic of it all, and he confessed that they had made the same error TWICE before. We're going to try to keep it down to just one flood. So, just in case you can't tell what Michelle is doing.... she is mopping up a LOT of water. And she's so happy that she's on vacation, she even has a smile! That's Jay's girl!!
Next, Michelle the Fearless decided that it was HER day to drive, so she jumped behind the wheel and did about 4 solid hours of driving. She INSISTED in finishing it off by driving through downtown Savannah and then parking it in the campground.
Jay needed to change his shorts after we arrived.
Fearless. Purely Fearless.
Our campground is at the mouth of the Savannah River, and is actually a nice little spot in the world. Michelle called ahead and alerted them to the fact that a "Big Rig" was coming in, and they were ready with golf carts to guide us to our spot. We have only met a few people so far, but they have been as nice as can be. A couple who lives near by stopped to admire "Big Blue" and simply GUSHED about the area and how lovely it is. Whereas most towns have one "town square", apparently Savannah has 28. They recommended that we partake in a tourist bus ride, and I suspect we will.
We have had our first casualty, however... Jay did a little bit of driving at the start of our trip here and ran over a "road gator" (truck tire on the road) which seems to have moved one of the three trailer axles out a little bit. It's still tracking straight, but it's shifted out a little bit. We are here for three days, so we should have plenty of time to contact a mobile repair facility to come by and reset the axle. It's just a few U-bolts. Not a big deal - and as the saying goes... S&%# happens.
The adventure has certainly started. Hope all is well with those we love!
So glad you all are having a great time -- it's cracking me up to see Michelle behind the wheel! Of course, driving our risers around for years is good training.
ReplyDeleteMiss you all, but happy you're having fun. :o)
